Responsibilities:
- Develop quality system documentation, SOPs and periodical review.
- Define quality assurance standards for raw material, packaging material and the various products offered by Americana Foods.
- Identify technology interventions for improving quality control at Americana Foods
- Assist in the budgeting exercise by deciding the budget requirement for implementation of Quality Standards and practices and ensure that the quality initiatives being implemented in Americana Foods are within the stipulated budget.
- Align all internal processes, policies and procedures in compliance with statutory requirements
- Drive implementation of all quality initiatives at the plants and ensure standardization in adherence to quality specifications at an organizational level.
- Anchor Total Quality Measurement processes in every area of the organization including product design, procurement, supply chain, service and administration
- Plan and conduct internal audits as per the different audit/certification requirement.
- Maintain a comprehensive centralized database for Quality Assurance.
- Conduct periodical food safety risk assessment.
- Follow-up on the corrective and preventive action plans of different audits.
- Anchor applications for the various certifications relevant for standardization of food quality and quality.
- Oversee the quality audit process to ensure effective implementation of Quality Standards in the organization
- Communicate and implement proper usage of available tools to gain the maximum benefit of QA effort
- Report discrepancies, errors, complaints, failures, or adverse events requiring review and action
- Provide technical support to Sourcing teams to establish quality assured processes & systems for new and existing vendors
- Provide technical support to each of the plant level Quality Control units
- Collaborate with production teams to resolve quality issues on the floor.
- Maintain and update quality records and documentation.
- Train and mentor QA technicians and production staff on quality practices.
- Assist in reviewing and validating cleaning procedures, allergen controls, and sanitation records.
- Drive and facilitate implementation of Internal Quality systems by the vendors through technical guidelines, support and monitoring.
- Participate in on-site inspections with internal quality control teams and external quality assurance officers, advisory and certification bodies as per quality audit schedule or as required,
- Implement periodic auditing system on suppliers for evaluation, prepare the evaluation report and submit it to QA & HSE Head for review.
- Implement ISO systems and procedures, Food Safety Management systems and procedures and Safety, Health and Environment Management systems & procedures.
- Allocate work to team members and provide guidance
- Supervise the activities and work of subordinates to ensure that all work is carried out in an efficient manner which is consistent with operating procedures and policy.
- Monitor and assess the team performances to ensure team technical strength and capabilities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or master’s in food technology (Food Science, Meat Science, veterinary science, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology Engineering, Food engineer, or related field).
- Must have previous experience in the development, implementation and maintenance of internationally accepted quality standards.
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience, with at least 3 years at a senior position in the Quality function in food industries (experience in meat/poultry industry will be added value).
- Experience in audits and different standards like BRCGS, ISO22000, ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001 etc. Having lead auditor certificate on such standards will be added value.
