Job Overview:
The Instrument & Control (I&C) Technician is responsible for the installation, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control systems in the district cooling plant. This role ensures accurate monitoring, efficient operation, and reliable automation of plant equipment to deliver uninterrupted cooling services.
Responsibilities
Perform preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance of instruments such as:
Flow meters, pressure transmitters, temperature sensors, level sensors
Control valves, actuators, dampers
VFDs, PLCs, SCADA systems, and other plant automation devices
Calibrate field instruments to ensure accuracy and compliance with operational standards.
Troubleshoot and repair faulty instrumentation and control circuits.
Support commissioning, testing, and loop-checking of new and upgraded control systems.
Monitor plant automation and provide technical support during alarms or shutdowns.
Maintain records of calibration, inspection, and maintenance activities.
Assist in root cause analysis of system failures and implement corrective actions.
Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, and chiller technicians to ensure seamless operation.
Follow safety standards, lock-out/tag-out procedures, and company protocols.
Recommend improvements in control strategies to optimize plant performance.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years’ experience as an Instrument Technician , preferably in:
District Cooling Plants, Cooling Plants, Industrial Cooling Plants, Utilities, Power Plants, Water & Power - Water Treatment, Water Desalination
Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and control logic.
Diploma in Instrumentation & Control Maintenance, Diploma in Instrumentation & Control Engineering, ITI, or related field.
