Job Overview:
The Mechanical Technician is responsible for the operation, preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all mechanical systems and equipment in the district cooling plant. This position ensures continuous and efficient performance of chillers, pumps, piping systems, and auxiliary equipment to support reliable cooling services.
Responsibilities
Conduct preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of mechanical equipment such as:
Centrifugal & screw chillers
Cooling towers
Pumps (chilled water, condenser water, make-up water)
Compressors, fans, valves, and piping systems
Carry out daily inspections to monitor system performance, identify abnormalities, and take corrective actions.
Troubleshoot breakdowns, repair or replace defective mechanical parts, and restore equipment to normal operation.
Perform alignment, balancing, lubrication, and calibration of rotating equipment.
Support in the commissioning, installation, and testing of new mechanical equipment.
Maintain proper documentation of all maintenance activities and spare parts usage.
Assist in shutdowns, start-ups, and emergency response situations.
Coordinate with electrical, I&C, and chiller technicians for plant-wide maintenance activities.
Ensure adherence to safety protocols, plant procedures, and international standards.
Recommend improvements to enhance system efficiency and reliability.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years’ experience as an MechanicalTechnician, preferably in:
District Cooling Plants, Cooling Plants, Industrial Cooling Plants, Utilities, Power Plants, Water & Power - Water Treatment, Water Desalination
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
Diploma in Mechanical Maintenance , Diploma in Mechanical Engineering , ITI, or related field.
